<aside> 📋 Overview - Notion
A Notion workspace is like your digital headquarters. It's the main place where you organize everything from your personal notes to work projects.
You can create your own workspace, and if you're collaborating with others, you can invite them to join your space. Likewise, you can join workspaces created by others.
In Notion, you can create and customize pages to fit your style and needs. You get to decide what goes on these pages – whether it's simple notes, different filtered views of your databases, lists, images, or other content. It's like having a virtual notebook that you can organize and design the way you want, making it a personalized space for your thoughts, plans, and ideas.
In Notion, the drag-and-drop feature refers to the ability to easily move and rearrange different elements called "blocks." Everything is a block! This include text, images, to-do lists, or entire sections within your pages. Using a simple click-and-drag action with your mouse or touchpad, you can move these blocks around to change their order, add columns to your page, or completely reorganize your content.
Notion templates are pre-designed pages, either made by you in your workspace or created by someone else. (You can download templates from Notion’s huge template library!)
The templates are ready-made formats and can be used for various purposes, like meeting notes or project planning. By using templates, you can quickly set up pages with a predefined layout, enhancing the customization of your digital space without starting from scratch every time.
A Notion database is like a smart, interactive list where you can organize and store different types of information. It's more than just rows and columns; you can add various properties like tags, dates, and checkboxes to make your information dynamic and easy to find and manage.
And each item is also a page! Think of it as a user-friendly way to structure and access your data, whether it's a to-do list, project tracker, or any other organized set of information.
In Notion, the calendar is a view of a database rather than a distinct type of database. This is not to be confused with Notion Calendar, a separate tool that recently debuted. Calendar views of databases present the information in a calendar format, allowing users to visualize and interact with date-related data in a more structured and time-oriented manner.
You can quickly and easily go back and forward in time by clicking toggle arrows that bring you to the next month and the previous month. There’s also a dropdown calendar menu that you can select dates from or type dates into—past or present. Lastly, there’s a “Today” button to quickly bring you back to the calendar view containing the current day.
Additionally, you can view calendars as months or weeks.
Any database with a date property can be viewed as a calendar.
